Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Violence erupted in Howrah’s Bankra on Wednesday night following a dispute between residents of Battala and Khanpara over setting up a temporary shop near a market. The altercation escalated into vandalism, with several makeshift shops being ransacked. During the clashes, at least 5-6 people sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police reached the spot after receiving information and brought the situation under control. Several individuals were arrested for rioting near the Bankra police outpost. To prevent further disturbances, a large deployment of police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel has been stationed in the area. Law enforcement officials are monitoring the situation closely.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the dispute and identifying those responsible for the violence. Security has been tightened across the affected areas to prevent further escalation. Local leaders have urged residents to maintain peace, while officials continue to assess the damages and legal actions against those involved.
